Permanent Deacon Handbook Policies
The Permanent Deacon Handbook and Policy Manual has been completely revised, and the final version was approved by Bishop Thomas and launched on 1 May 2026. A link to the document is provided below and can be downloaded as a PDF file. Using the Table of Contents, simply click on the area you are interested in, and it will automatically take you to that section of the Handbook. You can also run a search of the entire document to seek particular words or phrases. This Handbook will be updated on a regular basis, whenever policies are added or changed.

Letter of Suitability - There is a link to a form on the front page of the Deacon Portal to request a letter. The letter should be requested one month before the event, unless it is a funeral that demands an immediate letter. In the event of a funeral, please also email Ingrid Cooper (icooper@toledodiocese.org) to ask her to expedite the letter.
